If your business, organization or government is interested in purchasing a medium or heavy-duty zero-emission vehicle for your operations, consider participating in this pilot project. A zero-emission vehicle can reduce your operating costs and carbon footprint.
The Government of Yukon’s Energy Branch is coordinating a pilot project to encourage and expand the use of medium and heavy-duty zeroemission vehicles in the Yukon.
Rebate Offer
- Under the pilot project, the Government of Yukon is offering a rebate of up to 75 per cent of the cost of a qualifying vehicle.
- In exchange, participants agree to install data loggers on each qualifying vehicle.
- The Government of Yukon will monitor and collect data on the use and performance of the electric vehicle over a two-year period. The Energy Branch will also ask participants to share their experiences with the electric vehicle.
Rebate Conditions
- Vehicles purchased must be used for commercial and institutional purposes.
- Approved participants must purchase and anticipate delivery of the vehicle between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024, to receive the rebate
Eligible Vehicles
- All medium and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles including battery electric, plug-in hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
- Eligible types of medium and heavy-duty vehicles include:
- Buses, shuttle bus/ mini-bus/ coach/ mini-van;
- Straight truck, class 6, 7 or 8;
- Tractor (semi), class 8;
- Cargo van;
- Cutaway;
- Chassis cab;
- Step-van;
- Box truck;
- Garbage/ refuse truck;
- Ambulance;
- Bucket truck;
- Fire truck;
- Concrete mixer truck;
- Water delivery truck;
- Aircraft
- Watercraft;
- Construction vehicles and machinery;
- Mining vehicles and machinery; and
- Drivetrain conversions from internal combustion engine to zero-emission. Zero-emission pickup trucks currently available on the market are not eligible for the pilot project.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible participants All Yukon businesses, non-profit organizations, municipalities, Yukon First Nation governments and development corporations can apply to participate in this pilot project.
