As part of the implementation of the 7th operational phase of the Microfinance Program (PMF) of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) brings to the attention of local organizations (ASBL) and community-based associations (OBC), that it launches a call for proposals for environmental conservation projects.
The Microfinance Program (SMP) is a CORE program of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) implemented by UNDP and executed by UNOPS.
The PMF provides non-governmental and community-based organizations with grants to enable them to address global environmental challenges, while meeting local sustainable development needs.
Axis Intervention of Projects:
- As part of this call for proposals, the initiatives proposed by these organizations must align with one of the priorities following:
- Restoration of the vegetation of Mount Ganza, ecological corridor for chimpanzees of the Bururi and Vyanda nature reserves and water tower for local communities;
- iConstruction of ecological toilets and waste recovery into biogas and digestate in a public institution in the Mugere-Nyamusenyi landscape
- Develop agroforestry and anti-erosion systems and promote the use of improved stoves on Three (3) hills in the Muhuta commune;
- Stabilization of ravines in Muhuta commune
- Strengthening the capacities of partner organizations to implement subsidized micro-projects and capitalization of the initiatives of the 7th operational phase;
Funding Information
- Requested budget is less than or equal to 50,000 USD and the submitting Organization must provide co-financing of a value greater than or equal to the amount of the budget requested from the PMF-GEF.
Criteria
- Organizations/Associations submitting projects must meet the following criteria:
- Be approved and recognized by local authorities;
- To be an institution involved in initiatives at the community level, aimed at promoting the conservation of natural resources while at the same time improving the standard of living of the local population.
- Have experience of at least 3 years in the implementation of projects in place with the chosen axis,
- Demonstrate the ability to manage the grants obtained ( budget for the last two years of activity);
- Ability to provide co-financing in funds and/or in kind equivalent to the budget amount requested from the PMF- GEF;
- Being an organization of young people, women, people with disabilities or indigenous peoples is an asset;
- Being an association from the area of action constitutes a major asset;
- The proposed activity should reflect the general interests of the environment by:
- The potential for replicability;
- The capacity to achieve considerable impacts beyond time and the area in which the beneficiary community is located.
- The possibility of adoption of activities by the public at large.
- Their innovative, participatory and inclusive character
