The Southern Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SSARE) have launched a call for proposals for its Producer Grant program to help farmers and ranchers develop sustainable production and marketing practices.
The goal of the program is for farmers/ranchers to conduct projects to solve challenges and problems they face and develop information on what works and doesn’t work so that other farmers and ranchers facing those same problems can benefit from the results of the funded project.
Producer Grants are used to conduct sustainable agriculture research projects that solve agricultural production challenges farmers face and to develop information on what works and what doesn’t so that other farmers and ranchers facing those same challenges can benefit from the results of the funded project.

- Beneficial Insect Habitat
- Alternative Crops/Animals
- Organic Agriculture
- Sustainable Marketing Projects
- Sustainable Grazing Systems
- Soil Organic Matter Building/Protection/Management
- Increasing Sustainability of Existing Farming Practices
- Appropriate Technology
- Agroforestry/Water Quality
Funding Information
Projects may be funded for up to two years for a project maximum of $10,000 for an individual producer or $15,000 for a producer organization.
Eligibility Criteria
- Any farmer/rancher, or farmer organization in the Southern region is eligible to apply for a Producer Grant.
- They may only submit one proposal in a grant cycle.

Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
