The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is calling for proposals to support and strengthen capacity of CSOs to effectively advocate and lobby for change in laws and policies that are discriminatory against women.
The programme will be accompanied with strong capacity development to support and strengthen capacity of CSOs to effectively advocate and lobby for change in laws and policies that are discriminatory against women, as well as raising awareness on the existing legal and policy frameworks that seek to address SGBV and Harmful Practices.
Scope of Work
- Develop policy briefs and collaborate with other women rights movements/CSOs to lobby and advocate for change in laws and policies that negatively affect women and girls at national and local levels
- Create awareness raising activities on early warning signals on SGBV and awareness on Domestic Violence law, rape law, inheritance law and policies.
- Work with the relevant government institutions, CSOs, other stakeholders and policy makers for proper coordination to advocate for GEWE in response to VAWG including SGBV/HP and promote access to SRHR services for women and girls
- Engage youth, community members and leaders to be vigilant about the effect of sexual and gender- based violence, female genital mutilation and child marriages and pathway to alerting the authorities for response.
- Monitor and report SGBV cases at the courts and police in coordination with other criminal justice actors
- Ensure adequate visibility of donor support (EU/UN Spotlight Initiative) in every and ALL activities being implemented.
- Provide quarterly narrative reports and regular updates along with final narrative and financial reports
Funding Information
- CSO may apply for budget up to US$33,000.00
- Duration: 9 Months
Eligibility Criteria
Grants will be awarded to organizations based on the following considerations:
- National or local women’s led organizations, Women’s rights organizations/ movements
- Whether the CSO is registered in Liberia with office in Montserrado and/or other selected Spotlight counties
- The organization’s proven administrative and financial management capacity to undertake the project.
- The feasibility and soundness of the proposal with sustainability strategies and related budget; and
- The institutional capacity of the CSO.
- The legitimacy and quality of the contribution and values that the CSO can provide for the attainment of development results and maximizing the impact of a programme/project and
Competencies
CSO implementation teams should possess the following key competencies:
- Advocacy and communications skills
- Project Coordination.
- Development of strategies, plans and /or programs to prevent and respond to VAWG, including SGBV/HP, and promote women and girls’ SRHR, for women and girls facing intersecting and multiple forms of discrimination
- Skilled in community-based projects and programs.
Selection Criteria
- Proposal will be selected on the basis of technical (70%) and financial (30%) assessments.
- The technical assessment will review the following:
- Technical design of proposal in achieving expected results (30%)
- Experience working with UNDP and/ other UN agencies (5%)
- Local experience and presence (10%)
- Realistic work plan and timeline to complete activities (10%)
- Applicants’ institutional capacity and relevant experience (15%)
- Budget (cost effectiveness) (30%)
