Call for Project Proposals: U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation

The U.S. Embassy to Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean, and the OECS is pleased to issue a call for project proposals for the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) for 2017 for projects to preserve cultural heritage in Antigua and Barbuda; Barbados; Dominica; Grenada; St. Kitts and Nevis; St. Lucia; and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Department of State established the AFCP at the request of the U.S. Congress in 2001 to demonstrate the United States’ commitment to preservation and protection of cultural heritage around the world. Since 2001, the fund has awarded $55 million in support of more than 870 projects in more 125 countries.

AFCP-supported projects include the restoration of ancient and historic buildings, assessment and conservation of rare manuscripts and museum collections, preservation and protection of important archaeological sites, and the documentation of vanishing traditional craft techniques and indigenous languages.
