Funding Information
The average contribution is CAD 34,000 (approx. USD $25,000)
2017-2018 CFLI Priorities
- Empowering women and girls and promoting gender equality: While women and girls is a cross cutting theme targeted in all of its projects, BERUT will focus its action this year on further promoting women’s rights, protecting women from physical and psychological violence, empowering them and contributing to their protection and promotion of their fundamental rights. Focus will be on Lebanese women but also women from vulnerable populations (migrant workers, refugees, Palestinians, detainees, and young girls).
- Supporting accountable governance and peaceful pluralism: Since the erosion of democratic institutions and principles is a growing concern, another area of focus will be on better democratic governance (e.g. accountability of elected politicians) and transparency, as this is an area in which Canada is seen as being a leader worldwide.
- Security and stability: BERUT will aim at focusing on projects that promote stability and security, and strengthen social cohesion, in Lebanon’s most vulnerable areas such as Palestinian camps, impoverished municipalities (e.g North and South Lebanon, Bekaa Valley), and host communities.
