The UN Women is inviting submissions for the Disability Inclusive Development Programme to support women with disabilities from marginalized and underrepresented groups, and their OPDs, to strengthen their voice and agency to advocate for inclusion and meaningful participation, gender and disability responsive planning, programming and budgeting in line with SDGs at all levels, in particular at the local level.

UN Women in partnership with UNDP and WHO is implementing the Joint Programme funded by UNPRPD titled “Disability Inclusive Development in Nepal”. The project implementation period is from April 2022 to December 2024. The project intends to support the identified priorities for disability inclusive development in Nepal by a) Strengthening the policy/planning environment and coordination mechanisms with full and meaningful participation of organization of persons with disabilities (OPDs), with particular focus on the most marginalized and underrepresented groups to advance Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) implementation; b) Strengthening disability assessment and referral and disability support services; and c) Building the capacity of policymakers, service providers, OPDs and other relevant stakeholders to support the formulation of disability inclusive planning, implementation, and monitoring of SDGs.

In this context, UN Women plans to implement this initiative through the funding support from EU and Government of Finland (GoF). As a part of EU-UN Joint Programme titled ‘Empowered Women, Prosperous Nepal (EWPN), UN Women will implement capacity development interventions to strengthen the voice and agency of women with disabilities from diverse OPDs. Empowered Women, Prosperous Nepal is a four year Joint Programme (JP) together with UNICEF, UNFPA and ILO in partnership with Government of Nepal and European Union. The project will be implemented in three provinces namely Madhesh, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces from 2023 to 2026. The JP seeks to address the formal and informal barriers women and girls encounter that prevent them from enjoying their human rights on and equal basis with others.
