The Catholic Foundation is pleased to launch the Competitive Grants to helps ensure that organizations in the community have the financial resources to serve and make a real difference – now and in the future.
The Grants Program reflects what is important in the Catholic faith, and is guided by Catholic social teaching and The Archdiocesan Pastoral Plan. The Grants Program directly impacts non-profits, parishes and schools serving the general community within the boundaries of The Archdiocese of Atlanta.
Grant Types
In Foundation’s Competitive Grants there are two types of grants:
- Catholic Community Grants: As a Catholic foundation, the priorities that guide the grant decisions focus on areas of importance to the Catholic teachings and faith.
- Catholic Social Teaching and Works of Mercy: Applications in this grant priority would include one of the areas noted in Catholic Social Teaching and Works of Mercy (Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy).
- Catholic Social Teaching
- Corporal Works of Mercy
- Spiritual Works of Mercy
- Growing the Catholic Faith: Applications in this grant priority area include: parish religious education and ministry programs; evangelization; the four areas of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Plan (knowing the faith, living the faith, sharing the faith, and evolution of the parishes); Catholic historic preservation; and campus ministries.
- Catholic School Education: Applications in this grant priority area must be for Catholic schools located in the Archdiocese of Atlanta.
- Catholic Social Teaching and Works of Mercy: Applications in this grant priority would include one of the areas noted in Catholic Social Teaching and Works of Mercy (Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy).
- Parish Enrichment Grants: The purpose is:
- The Catholic Foundation’s Board of Directors has allocated funding in each grant cycle to assist pastors with small projects or programs within their parishes.
- Each Parish Enrichment Grant award is $1,000, and is awarded to one parish or mission in each of the ten deaneries.
- If your current need exceeds $1,000, you may apply for a Catholic Community Grant (formerly called a General Grant).
- Please note that the Catholic Foundation does not make grants to parishes for capital or debt reduction campaigns.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible organizations include charitable, religious, and educational organizations that have obtained 501(c)3 status. They do not make grants to individuals.
- Grants are only eligible to those who serve within the 69-county area of the Archdiocese of Atlanta.
