The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is currently seeking proposals for its program titled “Web-based Approaches to Reach Black or African American and Hispanic/Latino MSM for HIV Testing and Prevention Services”.
Objectives
Specifically, the project will address the following:
- Primary objective:
Evaluate and determine the most effective internet-based recruitment strategies for reaching and providing HIV testing within one month of enrollment to:- black MSM and
- HIspanic/Latino MSM
- Secondary objectives:
Assess differences by strategy in:- HIV test results (number with negative result, number with positive result);
- linkage to HIV prevention services indicated based on need (attend at least one HIV prevention service following reciept of HIV test result)
- linkage to HIV care (attend atleast one HIV clinic visit following reciept of test result)
- linkage to additional prevention and social services
- participants characteristics such as HIV-related risk behaviours, age, geographic area, testing history etc. of those who enrolled and those who took the test;
- cost per person tested for HIV;
- cost per person newly diagnosed with HIV;
- cost per person tested by risk category;
- cost per person linked to medical care;
- cost per person linked to prevention or social services; and
- types of internet site frequented by participants.
Funds Available
The estimated total program funding will be $2,950,000.
Eligibility Criteria
The following entities are eligible:
- County governments
- Private institutions of higher education
- Public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities
- Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
- Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Public and State controlled institutions of higher education
- City or township governments
- Special district governments
- State governments
- Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments)
- Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Independent school districts
