The Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) currently invites applications from the eligible organisations for its program titled- Prescription Drug Overdose Prevention for States Program Supplement.

The purpose of this supplement is to support a state health department to initiate, expand, or enhance any of the four strategies identified in the original FOA to prevent either prescription or illicit opioid overdose.

Priority Strategies

The two required strategies are:

  1. Enhance and maximize a state Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) and
  2. Implement community or insurer/health system interventions aimed at preventing prescription drug overdose and abuse.

The two optional strategies are:

  1. Conduct policy evaluations and/or
  2. Develop and implement Rapid Response Projects.

Award Information

The award amount lies between $200,000 to $1,000,000.
