The Novo Nordisk Foundation is seeking grant applications to broadly promote Danish fundamental research impacting better health through knowledge by supporting projects of high international level within the field of bioscience and basic biomedicine which are relevant for understanding the human organism and/or the basal mechanisms underlying human health and disease.
Focus Areas
- Bioscience and basic biomedicine including (but not limited to): molecular biology, cell biology, bioinformatics, modelling of biological systems, enzymology, genetics, microbiology, pharmacology, experimental physiology, biophysics, biochemistry, biology, and biostatistics etc. The research will typically be carried out in animals, cellular or subcellular model systems, or in silico.
- DKK 13 million are earmarked for projects within the strategically focused theme T-cell Biology – e.g. T-cell differentiation, function and regulation, or T-cell based immunotherapy.
Funding Information
- The total grant budget is DKK 104 million of which DKK 13 million are reserved for grants supporting the annual strategic focused theme.
- For each grant, a total of minimum DKK 1 million and maximum up to DKK 4.5 million can be awarded over a grant period of 1 to 3 years, with a fairly even distribution over the project period.
Eligibility Criteria
- Geography and institutions:
- The administrating institution, the main applicant and the research activities applied for must take place at: A university, hospital or other non-profit research institution in Denmark.
- Seniority:
- Applicants must be independent researchers, who have already established their own line of research or are in the process of establishing their own line of research. The applicant must be the clear driver of the project.
- Salary of the grantee cannot be covered by this grant. The applicant must be guaranteed her/his own salary for the entire project period.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Applications from Ph.D. students and postdocs will not be taken into consideration.
Assessment Criteria
- The Novo Nordisk Foundation’s Committee on Bioscience and Basic Biomedicine will primarily assess the applications based on the following criteria:
- Scientific originality and relevance
- Scientific or broader societal impact
- Scientific approach
- Scientific environment and collaboration
- Background and expertise (relative to career stage) of the applicant.
