The World Food Programme (WFP) has launched the call for proposals to implement the Disaster-Resilient Productive Infrastructure Development Project in Mountain Communities of the departments from Olancho and Colón.
The project aims to strengthen the climate resilience and food security of 1,300 households (6,500 people), small-scale producers, and entrepreneurs through strategies that integrate community adaptation, risk reduction, and the promotion of sustainable food systems. At least 40 communities are expected to directly benefit from access to personalized climate information to improve their economic decisions.

Expected Results
- Improve food access and consumption in vulnerable households through cash transfers and/or vouchers, conditioned on community resilience plans.
- Strengthen climate change adaptation capacities and community resilience by providing adaptation tools for planning and implementation purposes.
- Implement climate change adaptation practices at the household level of vulnerable smallholder farmers and entrepreneurs to strengthen and improve individual and community livelihood strategies.
- Promote adaptation practices and improve access to water through resilient community infrastructure.
- Facilitate access to innovative climate risk management tools, including climate insurance and financial services.
- Strengthen market access and improve the organizational and financial capacity of smallholder producers and entrepreneurs. The project will be implemented in the departments of Olancho and Colón, ensuring coordinated execution with local stakeholders and promoting the active participation of women, youth, and indigenous populations in decision-making. Its comprehensive and complementary approach seeks to generate sustainable impacts by strengthening local capacities for risk management and adaptation to climate change.
- Proposals will be considered if they:
- Dedicate a greater proportion of the budget to direct investment in the communities/beneficiaries of the project.
- Present an efficient cost structure consistent with the proposed activities.
- Adequately justify operating costs based on the context and scope.
- The financial evaluation will be based on technical and financial coherence, the percentage of direct investment, the efficiency of resource use, and compliance with the established overhead limit (maximum 7%).
