In response to the economic hardships experienced by small businesses and non-profit organizations resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Connell is launching the Small Business and Community Support Grant Program in an effort to help their residents retain jobs and stabilize local businesses.
The primary Community Development objectives of assistance to low- and moderate-income persons will be achieved as grants (forgivable loans), to retain jobs for City residents or emergency assistance (payment of operating expenses) for qualified small businesses and low-moderate microenterprise owners.
Goals
The goals of this program are to:
- Help small businesses survive the COVID-19 crisis.
- Retain employment and continue to pay employees.
- Maintain the provision of goods and services for Connell residents.
To the extent possible, the City will utilize funds from the Community Development Block Grant program. For businesses and non-profits who do not meet eligibility requirements from CDBG, funds may be awarded from the City’s Economic Development Reserve.
Eligibility Criteria
A business must meet ALL of the following criteria to be eligible to apply:
- Must be a private, for profit Small Businesses with 10 or less full-time equivalent employees (FTE).
- Business must have a current City of Connell business license for a commercial location operating within the city limits.
- Business may NOT be delinquent in State and/or Federal licensing and filings.
- Business must demonstrate a negative impact due to COVID-19.
- Business must not have received duplicate benefits (financial assistance in the form of grants, subsidized loans, insurance, or reimbursement).
- A non-profit must show how they have been negatively impacted due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
