The “Climate Resilient Sheltering Schools (CRSS)” programme, supported by the European Union, and aims to ensure children have access to safe, inclusive, climate-resilient learning environments.
As part of the Climate Resilient Sheltering Schools (CRSS) programme, the selected CSO partner will support capacity building at the school and community levels by delivering targeted trainings. These trainings aim to strengthen disaster preparedness, improve infrastructure sustainability, and enhance local-level management and resilience and will follow the School Based DRR Handbook and EiE Policy of the Ministry.

Expected Results
- Result 1: Teachers, school directors, and communities are trained on School-Based Disaster Risk Reduction (SBDRR)
- The CSO will deliver training sessions to 225 teachers, 100 school directors, and SBDRR framework, including risk assessments, school emergency planning, preventive maintenance and annual emergency drills.
- Participants are expected to demonstrate improved knowledge and readiness to implement SBDRR activities in schools, with children’s participation actively encouraged.
- Supporting the delivery of MHPSS messages through: Child-friendly materials (e.g., posters, storybooks, visual aids).
- Result 2: School and community actors are trained on the use of schools as emergency shelters.
- The CSO will conduct trainings for school directors and community representatives on the dual function of schools as learning environments and temporary evacuation shelters.
- Trainings will cover shelter readiness planning in line with Ministry of Climate Change protocols and national shelter guidelines.
- Result 3: School leaders and SIPCs (School Improvement Plan Committees) are trained in school grant management.
- The CSO will facilitate training sessions on planning, budgeting, and reporting of the school grant for school-level.
- Result 4: Schools and communities are trained in preventive maintenance of school infrastructure.
- The CSO will train principals, designated school staff, and community members on routine infrastructure maintenance, early identification of issues, and use of preventive maintenance checklists.
- Result 5: Quality and effectiveness of training delivery are monitored and used to inform continuous improvement.
- The CSO will develop and implement appropriate tools to monitor the delivery and impact of all trainings.
- Monitoring should include pre- and post-training assessments, participant feedback forms, observation checklists and other where applicable.
- Collected data will be analyzed and used to adapt training content and facilitation methods to better meet the needs of teachers, school leaders, and communities.
