The Charlotte Mecklenburg Community Foundation (CMCF) is seeking applications for its Social Capital Grants Program.
Service Areas
Foundation for the Carolinas (FFTC) competitive grantmaking programs generally award grants in FFTC’s 13-county service area:
- North Carolina – Cabarrus County, Cleveland County, Davidson County, Iredell County, Lincoln County, Mecklenburg County, Richmond County, Rowan County, Stanly County and Union County.
- South Carolina – Cherokee County, Lancaster County, York County.
Funding Restrictions
- Requests typically not funded through their discretionary grants programs:
- Capital campaign requests
- Debt retirement/deficit funding
- Direct support of individuals (e.g. scholarships, hardship)
- Duplication of existing programs or services by new organizations
- Endowment funds
- Travel and conferences
- Publication of books
- Projects that are typically the funding responsibility of federal, state or local government
- Sponsorships or fundraisers
- Requests ineligible for funding through their discretionary grants programs:
- Projects that promote specific political or religious views
- Political or lobbying activities
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible organizations for competitive grantmaking programs include:
- 501(c)3 nonprofits
- Congregations
- Governmental institutions
- Educational institutions
