The Minnesota Agricultural Education Leadership Council (MAELC) is seeking applications for Common Fund Grants Program to encourage collaborative initiatives with an emphasis on agriculture, food, and natural resource education programs at the primary, secondary, and postsecondary levels.
Goals
Special Consideration will be given to grants that incorporate at least one or more of the following MAELC Goals:
- Increasing the quality of instruction to prepare strong graduates from diverse backgrounds for current and future careers in agriculture, food and natural resources (AFNR)
- Increasing the numbers and types of students, graduates, teachers, and community members involved in AFNR education to meet present and future needs
- Improving the understanding of AFNR education by making accurate and complete information widely available to students, parents, school administrators, teachers, and employers
Funding Information
- Over the last five years, the average grant award is approximately $19,300.
- MAELC typically does not fund textbooks, student stipends, and extended contracts.
- MAELC will not accept applications for greenhouse structures, however, will still consider funding items such as consumables or other materials.
- Higher priority will be given to those applications that show community partnerships and other funding sources to assist in the completion of the project.
- MAELC prefers not to sustain repeat projects
Guidelines
- MAELC will award Common Fund grants to applications having a statewide impact.
- Only single-year funding requests will be accepted.
- They still encourage you to apply. MAELC continues to seek projects that support and expand agricultural education throughout Minnesota and will be flexible, while also taking into account public health and safety.
