The Stanislaus Community Foundation is seeking applications for its Youth or Community Centered Arts and Culture Grant program to stabilize and secure the ongoing operation of these nonprofit services that are critical to young people and/or contribute to the vibrancy of Stanislaus County.
The COVID-19 pandemic has created a crisis for local arts, cultural, and youth-serving organizations. The public health requirements for safely operating these programs present numerous challenges to nonprofit financial models and affect the design, nature, and scale of youth and arts/culture programs.
Considering these challenges and because of the vital role played by these nonprofits, the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors approved $2 million in CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Funds specifically for county nonprofit organizations providing arts, cultural, and/or youth services and programs.
Focus Areas
- Youth Services
- $1 million will be available for nonprofit organizations that provide services to youth. These include direct service providers and community sports/recreation programs.
- Funds may be used for operations (rent, utilities, payroll, and benefits), effective solutions in response to COVID-19 (e.g., technology, social distancing protocols, etc.), and technical assistance in financial planning and forecasting.
- Target Groups: Enrichment, Literacy, Recreation, Sports Leagues/Programs, Youth Centers, etc.
- Community-Centered Arts and Culture
- $1 million will be available for a nonprofit organization that provides services in arts, culture, and entertainment. These include non-profit performing arts programs, museums, and galleries, etc.
- Funds may be used for operations (rent, utilities, payroll, and benefits), effective solutions in response to COVID-19 (e.g., technology, social distancing protocols, etc.), and technical assistance in financial planning and forecasting.
- Target Groups: Art Centers, Cultural Groups, Historic Preservation Organizations, Museums, Theaters, etc.
Funding Information
- To reach as many nonprofit organizations as possible, priority consideration will be given to requests under $50,000; requests between $50,000 and $100,000 will be highly competitive, and awards over $100,000 will be rare.
- Organizations may not request more than $300,000 from each fund.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be a 501c3 non-profit organization (classified as a public charity and not a private foundation) in good standing with the IRS.
- Must not be a pre-school, K-12 school, place of worship, individual, college/community college/university, auxiliary support organization (i.e. friends of XYZ, booster, or other school-affiliated clubs), Federal or State of California agency/division/department.
- Geographically located and providing services within the borders of Stanislaus County.
- Be in good standing with local, state, and federal agencies.
- Demonstrate financial impact due to COVID-19.
