The City of Sydney is seeking applications for its Community Emergency Quick Response Grants to help their communities respond to the impacts of the pandemic.
They particularly encourage grant applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisations, groups and networks.
This grant supports small-scale projects for local residents and organisations which build the capacity of their communities to respond to the current impacts of Covid-19.
Priorities
Funding will support urgent community-led projects that support their vulnerable residents and those with the greatest need by:
- Strengthening social cohesion among their diverse communities;
- Increasing the readiness and resilience within their communities to respond to shocks;
- Improving social inclusion and wellbeing in local neighbourhoods and vulnerable communities;
- Providing advice and referrals on individual rights under public health orders;
- Improving access to personal protective equipment such as masks and hand sanitiser;
- Supporting the development of skills and resources to improve their local digital literacy;
- Increasing access to affordable internet, digital technology and equipment to support participation in education and access to essential services such as data vouchers;
- Increasing access to affordable and healthy food;
- Increasing community skills in sourcing and preparing healthy food;
- Improving access to tenancy rights information and long-term rental options;
- Building capacity of organisations to support and advocate for tenants including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and non-residents.
Funding Information
Funding available:
- Support of up to $10,000;
- Projects can commence at any time and should be completed within 6 months.
Expected Outcomes
- Strengthening community cohesion to build the resilience of their local communities;
- Increasing digital inclusion within their local community;
- Reducing food insecurity;
- Improving access to information on rights and conditions of tenants.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be a not-for-profit organisation or unincorporated community group.
- Projects must take place within the City of Sydney local area or demonstrate benefits for the area’s residents, workers or visitors.
