The Community Foundation for Monterey County (CFMC) has launched the Jean P. Fitton Fund to award grants to nonprofit organizations, public schools and public school foundations and public schools are eligible to apply for enrichment programs that benefit elementary, middle and high school teachers.
Priorities
Public school foundations may apply for the following:
- Cash awards for K-12th grade teachers based on merit and contribution to the education of students in Monterey County.
- Nonathletic scholastic and arts programs for teacher professional development and enrichment.
- Funding for necessary equipment and facility acquisition or improvements.
Funding Information
- Grant Awards: Approximately $32,000 will be available to grant each year from the Jean P. Fitton Fund to support professional development and enrichment activities for teachers in Monterey County.
- Grants will be awarded for an 11-month grant period (December through October).
Eligibility Criteria
- Grants are open to 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations and public agencies.
- Only one grant application per organization will be considered.
- Only proposals supporting K-12th grade teachers will be accepted.
- All organizations applying for a grant must be current on reporting obligations for past CFMC grants.
What grant funds CANNOT support?
- Religious organizations that exclude services based on religious beliefs or promote a religious doctrine.
- Funding to schools and public agencies that would supplant tax-supported, mandated services.
- Expenses incurred prior to the grant award date.
