The Weipa Town Authority (WTA) is pleased to announce the Community Grants and Financial Assistance Program to support local community groups and organisations that are providing programs, activities, events and projects that enhance community wellbeing, build capacity and enrich the diversity of social, sport, cultural and economic opportunities available to the residents of Weipa.
Objectives
- The objectives of Community Group Grants are to contribute financial assistance for small one-off projects, programs or equipment purchases that;
- improve the organisations ability to conduct activities,
- increase participation and,
- develop the capacity within the organisation.
- The program is not intended to fund ongoing operational costs associated with the general running of the organisation.
Funding Information
- Weipa Town Authority will make financial assistance of up to $2000 available for eligible community groups each year.
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be eligible, the following requirements must be met:
- The applicant is a not-for-profit organisation properly constituted or incorporated, or
- The applicant is sponsored by a not-for-profit organisation properly constituted or incorporated (evidence of sponsorship to be provided).
- The organisation operates within Weipa and the project, activity or program will provide direct benefits to the Weipa Community.
- The organisation has its own bank account or is able to provide a copy of its most recent audited or reconciled financial statements.
- The organisation holds Public Liability Insurance (evidence of currency to be provided).
- The application is submitted on the prescribed application form and submitted with all necessary attachments by the closing date.
- Eligible organisations must not;
- Be political, discriminatory or commercial organisations.
- Have outstanding debt or payments due to WTA.
- Have outstanding grants that have not been satisfactorily completed and acquitted.
- Notwithstanding exceptional circumstances, have applied for another grant from the WTA within the same financial year.
- Apply for retrospective funding for their project, event or program.
