The Rotorua Lakes Council has announced Community Grants to provide assistance for the ‘not for profit’ sector to strengthen the community sector and meet local needs.
The objectives of this funding:
- Supporting community organisations’ activities and services which contribute towards the achievement of 2030 goals
- Focusing on investment which improves equitable outcomes for their community
- Strengthening the ability of local community groups to respond effectively to local needs
- Building and strengthening the capacity of community groups and organisations to move to financial sustainability
- Building participation and a sense of belonging
- Increasing community access to opportunities and resources
- Complementing funding from other sources
- Building social capital
- Increasing community safety.
Funding Information
- Community grants range between $1000 to $5000 per annum for a three year period, 2021-2024, can be used for a wide range of purposes and require simple accountability reporting for small to medium sized community organisations.
How can you use the funds
Grants can be used for the purpose of (but is not limited to):
- The running or operational costs of organisations that provide community services related to the four wellbeings.
- Community development costs, such as hui, training, planning, evaluation and facilitator fees.
- Community projects or event costs that:
- encourage participation in communities
- promote community leadership
- promote social, economic and cultural equity.
Outcomes
Applicants need to show how their community-based services and initiatives will contribute to:
- Improving equitable outcomes and social, economic, environmental and/or cultural wellbeing
- Strengthening social capital and community resilience
- Making a positive difference alongside the community
Eligibility Criteria
- They are looking for small to medium sized not-for-profit community organisations, working collaboratively to deliver innovative services within the Rotorua district, providing greater impact and improving equity in their communities.
- Only organisations active in the Rotorua district and activities specific to the benefit of the Rotorua district communities will be eligible.
- Organisations must demonstrate registered charitable status.
- Organisations must identify any other form of support they are receiving from Rotorua Lakes Council, including subsidised rent, rates remissions.
- Applicants must outline their contribution towards the Rotorua 2030 goals and how they aim to improve equity.
