Are you interested in conducting climate change outreach? If yes, then the County of Santa Clara is calling all community organizations, non-profits, and faith organizations in Santa Clara County!
The Roadmap aims to integrate equity in climate planning and include goals and actions that reflect the needs of the community. Therefore, implementing focused engagement for hard to reach, and traditionally underserved populations that eliminates barriers to participation is crucial.
The project seeks to prioritize community organizations that can provide outreach and engagement with limited English proficient individuals, agricultural workers, seniors, and minority-owned businesses in unincorporated areas.
Goals
The goal of this grant is for awardees to:
- Increase benchmarksentation of underrepresented population groups in climate action planning;
- Raise awareness among the County’s underrepresented communities on climate change and its impacts;
- Gain a deeper understanding of their challenges, concerns and opportunities, particularly around transportation, housing, energy, food, and water; and
- Drive the development of the County’s climate related programs, policies, and actions based on lived experience and community needs.
Funding Information
- Apply for a mini grant of $ 2,000- $ 5,000 to inform underrepresented population groups about climate change and its future impacts in Santa Clara County.
Eligibility Criteria
- Active community organizations, non-profits, or faith organizations in Santa Clara County with special considerations for those working in unincorporated communities. Experience with environmental and sustainability topics is not required.
- Focus and experience on executing inclusive and accessible engagement and working with hard to reach and / or traditionally underrepresented communities, especially limited English proficient individuals, agricultural workers, seniors, and minority-owned businesses
- Demonstrated capacity to assist with outreach and engagement (dedicated staff availability and hours)
- Commitment to a 2-hour orientation and a 2-hour closeout meeting.
