The Capital Power is offering Community Sustainability Fund (CSF) for climate action projects that support sustainable initiatives in the communities where Capital Power operates its power generation facilities.
The Capital Power is proud to offer CSF grants for communities across Canada and the United States in addition to the regular corporate giving, employee-matched giving and employee volunteer grants.
Funding Information
- For 2023, they’re proud to offer $200,000 through the CSF with a maximum grant of $20,000 per project.
Eligible Projects
- Eligible Projects must:
- Be located in the operational or office communities
- Benefit and be accessible to the whole community
- Submit an online application
- Submit a detailed budget
- Eligible projects include:
- Renewable energy installations
- Energy efficiency
- Emission reductions
- Sustainable food programs and farmer’s markets
- Community gardens
- Nature conservation
- Tree planting
- Water conservation
- Renewable energy and emissions reduction education
- Recycling programs
- EV charging stations
Note: Individual or personal initiatives (i.e., solar panels on your house) are not applicable for this grant.
Eligibility Criteria
- Capital Power accepts requests for support from non-profit societies and registered charitable organizations that are associated with the communities where they have operations.
- To be considered, all requests for support must be received through Capital Power’s online application system.
Exclusions
- Capital Power’s Community Investment Program does not normally consider mass mailing solicitations nor hard copy/email requests for the following:
- Advertising in yearbooks, handbooks, journals, event programs or recruitment initiatives
- Advocacy or lobbying organizations
- Political projects or programs
- Religious or sectarian organizations
- Contingency funds or deficit campaigns
- Operating or administrative expenses
- Travel, accommodation or meals
- Organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, gender, age, religion, or lifestyle
- Support for individuals
- Requests for items (i.e. fundraising, silent auctions)
- Utility rebates
- Unregistered organizations or businesses
