Applications are now open for the Compassionate Impact Grant Program, a $150K, three year, unrestricted grant that is awarded to a single organization with the goal of tangibly increasing the impact of an innovative nonprofit.
CIG’s goal is to support organizations that address critical community problems through evidence-based and culturally responsible social innovations.
CIG supports organizations with social initiatives that:
- provide access to food and clean water
- tackle disparities in health and well-being
- foster employment opportunities and economic growth
- create innovative, evidence-based, and sustainable impact
- offer culturally-sensitive solutions to community problems
- serve historically underrepresented and underserved communities
- are inclusive of people across sex, gender identity, sexuality, race, ethnicity, culture, religion, and ability
Priorities
FBB will give priority consideration to organizations that can establish that their approach:
- impacts historically marginalized, underrepresented, or underserved communities
- is organized and led by members of the target community
- has program models that foster employment opportunities and economic growth
Funding Information
In Spring of 2022, FBB will disburse the first disbursement of the grant in the amount of $25,000 USD to one organization with the goal of increasing that organization’s ability to fulfill its mission. Priority will be given to organizations that can show that the amount of grant money can affect a significant result.

North American countries and territories: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Bonaire, British Virgin Islands, Canada, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Cuba, Curaçao, Dominica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Greenland, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique, Mexico, Montserrat, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, Saba, San Andrés and Providencia, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Martin, St Pierre and Miquelon, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Sint Eustatius, Sint Maarten, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, United States, US Virgin Islands
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should:
- have missions that address access to food, clean water, or shelter and disparities in health and well-being, including but not limited to climate change and disaster preparedness and response
- be registered and primarily operate in North America
- have an expense budget under $2M USD
- All applicants must be nonprofit organizations with current 501(c)3 status with the United States Internal Revenue Service or equivalent in another country. If registered in a country that is not the US, the applicant organization must provide proof of registration. Applicant organizations may have a 501(c)(3) organization serving as a fiscal sponsor. In this case, the applicant organization must submit additional materials related to that sponsorship.
- Total organizational expense budget must not exceed $2 Million USD.
- Programs should focus or have a significant program component addressing access to food, water, or shelter or disparities in health and well-being, including but not limited to climate change and disaster preparedness and response.
- All applicants must be registered in a North American country or territory and a significant portion of their work must impact North American countries or territories.
