The Department of Primary Industries and Regions (PIRSA) is offering the Connecting Communities Events Grant as part of the Family and Business Support Program to support rural communities in South Australia affected by drought and other adversity.
The aim of this program is to support gatherings that encourage communities to come together, share experiences, and reinforce the unity and strength of rural areas.
Funding Information
- Grants up to a maximum of $5,000 (GST exclusive) per event are available in the following categories:
- Medium to large scale community events that provide social connection, wellbeing or primary production resilience building activities and outcomes
- Community wellbeing and mental health development activities.
Eligible Events
- Events will provide a forum for affected community members to maintain community connections and/or build personal wellbeing and resilience skills.
- Examples of eligible activities include (but are not restricted to):
- Community events
- Networking events
- Community festival
- Fundraising event
- Wellbeing and mental health activities
- Mental Health First Aid training
- Personal wellbeing and resilience activities
- Community events
- Events should be:
- an identified need of the community
- a function where people can participate, interact and socialise
- open to the whole community (not restricted to members of a particular group)
- provide access to or information about relevant support services
- free or inexpensive to participate and not for profit.
Ineligible Events
- Grants are not available for:
- meetings that are held regularly and not considered as events
- events that do not support the aims of the program.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible groups within South Australia include (but are not limited to):
- farmer groups, including Agricultural Bureau branches and farming systems groups
- industry organisations
- community groups such as agricultural show societies, progress associations, sports clubs, service clubs
- local government
- To apply for a grant under the program eligible applicants must:
- be an incorporated organisation
- have a current Australian Business Number (ABN).
- Applicants must provide relevant information and a description of the proposed event including:
- who the event is being held for and why
- how it will assist the rural community
- how it will be publicised and promoted in the community
- involvement of local people and businesses in the event
- budget
- target/estimated attendance.
