Counterpart International (CPI) is seeking applications from the interested organizations and institutions to receive funding as the Governance Partner for the Promoting Advocacy and Rights (PAR) project in Bangladesh.
Promoting Advocacy and Rights (PAR) is a five (5) year program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Kingdom Agency for International Development (UKAid) and implemented by CPI. PAR’s goal is to strengthen the enabling environment for civil society institutions advancing good governance and citizen participation in Bangladesh. Additionally, the project will contribute to a more inclusive, resilient, and evidencedriven Bangladeshi civil society.
Counterpart seeks to partner with a Bangladeshi organization with strong capabilities in organizational development and government relations to provide support for establishing an open system for CSOs to attest to their organizational integrity as well as to provide support for facilitating forums for civil society to engage with government.
Program Objectives
- The purpose of this funding activity is to:
- Establish a set of quality standards for CSOs to improve transparency and accountability of the sector; thereby increasing trust and willingness by the government to enable a supportive environment for civil society and government to collaborate.
- Increased civil society engagement with public officials through policy advocacy / dialogue “trade show” events where civil society, government, business representatives, academics, journalists and others can collaboratively draft policy reform action agenda.
- Develop and Host Online CSO Self-Certification Portal: In collaboration with Counterpart International and other PAR partners, the PAR Governance Partner will develop, pilot, and roll out a set of quality standards for CSOs to improve CSO transparency and accountability.
- Support Platforms for Governance Policy Dialogue Between Civil Society and the Government: PAR seeks to complement the Government of Bangladesh’s plans and strategies for engaging civil society to advocate for improving democratic culture, citizen’s interest and good governance practice in Bangladesh.
Funding Information
- Subject to the availability of funds, CPI expects to award one (1) Governance Partner grants.
- The total amount available is BDT 12,412,500.
- The expected duration of CPI’s support or the period of performance is [03/15/2019-11/30/2022].
- Promoting Advocacy and Rights (PAR) project /CPI reserves the right to fund any or none of the applications submitted.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant / application must meet the following requirements:
- Be officially registered and working in compliance with all applicable civil and fiscal regulations, including, but not limited to pertinent local laws and status. In lieu of official registration, a grantee may show proof of effort to secure registration, exemption from registration, or show cause why such registration is either not optional or practicable
- Meet the projects objectives and principles
- Contain expected outcomes and results consistent with and linked to the projects objectives
- Applicant is not a debarred organization
