The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is seeking applications for Advancing Comprehensive Community-Based HIV Services to Achieve Epidemic Control in Namibia under the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
The purpose of this NOFO is to provide a comprehensive package of HIV and TB community-based services including index contact testing, HIV Self -Testing, linkage to care, and adherence and retention in care support services in all fourteen regions of the country.
Key Strategies
- Implement and provide TA for community-based index testing with fidelity as well as integrating self-testing to find “healthy men” in the community. Enhance pediatric and adolescent index case-finding.
- Ensure direct and immediate (>95%) linkage to treatment for HIV-positive clients within 7 days and provide high impact prevention services for high-risk negatives.
- Enhance adherence and retention on ART treatment by establishing and providing TA for CAGs for ART patients.
- Conduct and provide TA for community tracing of patients who missed clinical appointments by more than 7 days to ensure clients are returned and remain in care.
- Conduct and provide TA for community tracing of pregnant women, linkage to ANC and ART, and tracking during breastfeeding to ensure viral load suppression (VLS) and early infant diagnosis (EID) outcomes.
- Conduct and provide TA for community-based TB screening and refer TB suspects for TB treatment as well as support retention on TPT for all PLHIVs as an integral and routine part of the HIV clinical care package.
