The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Israel Ministry of Energy, jointly with the Israel Innovation Authority and the BIRD Foundation invite you to apply for grant funding through “BIRD Energy.
Call for proposals focuses explicitly on combating climate change through innovation that scales up carbon-free technologies and reduces the climate impact of natural gas and other associated infrastructure, such as carbon capture and methods to reduce leakage in natural gas systems.
This program develops innovation develops through US – Israel cooperation on a range of clean energy technology, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, natural gas, and energy water technologies.
The BIRD Energy program supports research and development that benefits both the United States and Israel, with a focus on commercializing sustainable energy technologies that improve economic competitiveness, create jobs, and increase energy security.
Funding Information
- The BIRD Energy program provides maximum conditional grants of up to $1 million from at least $4 million in available funds.
Criteria
To be considered, a project proposal should include:
- R&D cooperation between two companies or cooperation between a company and a university/ research institution (one from the US and one from Israel)
- Innovation in all areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency, such as solar and wind power, advanced vehicle technologies and alternative fuels, smart grid, storage, water-energy nexus, advanced manufacturing, AI for energy management, etc.
- Innovation in natural gas and other associated technologies
- Significant commercial potential; the project outcome should lead to commercialization
