Dufferin County is seeking applications for its Community Grant Program. In 2018, the County of Dufferin agreed with Headwaters Communities in Action (HCIA) to administer the Community Grant program. HCIA has put together a grant team that reviews the applications, evaluates them against the established criteria ensuring that they meet the strategic priorities.

The County has identified the following as its 2021 strategic priorities:
- Climate Action
- Cultural Enhancement
- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiatives
- Economic Development
- Youth and Seniors Services
Funding Information
- This year there are two forms available:
- a short form application for those applying for a Community Grant up to $1,000 and
- a long form application for those applying for a Community Grant over $1,000 ($1,001 and above)
- Dufferin County allocates $10,000 towards the Food For Thought grants each year.
Mandatory Requirements
- Applicants must be a registered not for profit or charitable organization, or partnered with one, and not a municipality. If you are partnering, you must attach a letter of support from the partner not for profit/charity and supply their registration number.
- Project or organization cannot already be supported by the County of Dufferin.
- Funding requests are limited to one application per organization.
- Projects must benefit Dufferin County residents.
- No attachments will be accepted other than those requested. Additional attachments will not be reviewed. Requested documents include:
- Financial statement
- Letter from partner registered not for profit/charity, if applicable
- Report for previous DC Community Grant project, if applicable
Other Considerations for Organizations
- Project proposals must clearly indicate how the initiative will benefit the participants and/or the community.
- This is a competitive process. Overall funding allocation may be decreased and funding requested by organizations may be granted in full, in part or declined, at the discretion of the assessment committee.
- These grants are intended to support one-time funding opportunities/projects, not ongoing sustainability funding. Priority will be given to:
- New projects (i.e. not to sustain an existing program as is)
- New features or new beneficiaries of existing programs
- Events that are not fundraisers (i.e. sponsorship)
- The organization must be sustainable and able to operate without this grant funding. Financial Statements must be attached for the application to be accepted.
- Grant applications are assessed by a committee created and managed by Headwaters Communities In Action. The committee has multi-sectoral representation, a solid knowledge of Dufferin County, an analytic skill set and a collaborative approach.
