Environment Minister’s Special Licence Grant Program in Canada

Deadline: 31-Jan-23

Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) and Alberta Fish and Game Association (AFGA) share in the dedication of conserving and enhancing fish and wildlife populations, and the habitats upon which they depend, for future generations through the Minister’s Special Licence (MSL) Program.

The Government of Alberta and the Minister of Environment and Parks has made the Minister’s Special Licence (MSL) program possible through the donation of two antlered mule deer, two antlered elk, and two Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep special licence tags. These special licence tags were then auctioned and raffled off to raise money to fund worthy conservation projects focusing on mule deer, elk and bighorn sheep, as well as land stewardship, habitat improvement, education or other conservation-related projects.

The available funds are raised through the MSL raffle in Alberta and auctioned through the Wild Sheep Show in Nevada. These funds are then awarded via a stakeholder committee, to applicants that can demonstrate how their project or program benefits fish and wildlife in Alberta.

Eligible Projects

Fund allocation priority is given to projects relating to mule deer, elk and bighorn sheep, however, land stewardship, habitat improvement, education, or other conservation-related projects are also funded through this program.
