The Equal Rights Trust has launched a call for applications for the #NoCOVIDiscrimination Initiative Grant Scheme.
As part of the Trust’s NoCOVIDiscrimination Initiative, they are seeking applications from organisations working with and on behalf of groups exposed to discrimination for projects aimed at monitoring, documenting, and challenging the discriminatory impacts of State responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Purpose
The purposes of the scheme are:
- to increase the legal, technical and strategic capacity of selected equality defenders and organizations to:
- identify, document and monitor discriminatory impacts of State responses to COVID-19, and/or
- challenge the discriminatory impacts of State responses to COVID-19 through advocacy or awareness-raising.
Funding Information
- To be eligible for support, sub-grants must have a budget of not less than 3,000 EUR and not more than 9,000 EUR.
- Projects which can evidence the availability of match-funding will be particularly welcomed.
Duration
It is anticipated that the sub-grants will be awarded by the end of August 2020, and that the sub-grantee projects will have a maximum duration of six months, to be completed by 28 February 2021 at the latest.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the sub-grants, civil society and trade union organisations must:
- Be registered in one of eight target countries: Armenia, Bolivia, Cape Verde, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Paraguay, or the Philippines.
- Not be currently in the process of applying for another sub-grant scheme administered under the same project by the Equal Rights Trust and/ or its partners. Civil society and trade union organisations who are already in receipt of-, or have previously received, a sub-grant under the same project by the Equal Rights Trust and/ or its partners are eligible.
- Applicants can apply either alone or in partnership with other organizations and/ or trade unions. Collaboration is encouraged.
Selection Criteria
Successful sub-grantees will be selected on the basis of the following criteria:
- Relevance: relevance of the applicant’s proposal to the specific focus areas in this call for proposals, and to the objectives of the project, principally the improved implementation of the right to non-discrimination under UN and ILO conventions
- Impact: proposed results and outcomes of the applicant’s proposed project, likelihood of success and risk assessment
- Capacity: level of expertise on the specific area(s) in focus in the application; prior experience in documenting discrimination and/or other human rights abuses; and financial and practical capacity to implement the proposed project
- Reach: legitimacy among disadvantaged groups, and number of individuals to be reached
- Value for money: the cost effectiveness of the applicant’s proposed budget and the impact of proposed project activities
- Sustainability: history of engagement with the priority issues in the proposed project; plans for sustaining the outcomes of the sub-grant.
