The European Commission is currently accepting proposals for a programme entitled “EU Support to the Competitiveness of Quality Coffee in Nepal” with an aim to reduce poverty and stimulate trade-led economic growth by strengthening trade competitiveness in Nepal.
The objective of this call for proposals is to support the innovative approaches for development of specialty coffee along the value chain.
Area of Interest
- Support to capacity development of the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies (MoCS) and other relevant agencies to improve coordination and transparency in the process of formulation and implementation of trade policy as well as to support the private sector participation in trade policy making and trade negotiation processes;
- Strengthening the accreditation and upgrading the quality infrastructure, particularly in regard to sanitary and phyto-sanitary measures and technical barriers to trade that supports Nepal’s access to international markets; and
- To support value chain development of coffee.
Size of Grants
Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between the following EUR 480,000 and EUR 500,000 .
Eligibility Criteria
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the lead applicant must:
- be a legal person and
- be a non-profit making organisation and
- be a specific type of organisation such as: non-governmental organisation, public sector operator, international (inter-governmental) organisation as defined by Article 43 of the Rules of application of the EU Financial Regulation or business intermediaryorganisation or association of cooperatives in respective sector or association of coffee producers and
- be established in Member States of the European Union and contracting parties to the Agreement of the European Economic Area or developing countries and territories, as included in the list of ODA recipients which are not members of the G-20 group, and overseas countries and territories covered by Council Decision
- developing countries, as included in the list of ODA recipients, which are members of the G-20 group, and other countries and territories, when they are beneficiaries of the action financed by the Union under the Instruments covered by this Article
- This obligation does not apply to international organisations and
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the coapplicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary and
- be allowed to work in Nepal according to the national legislation in force
- Potential applicants may not participate in calls for proposals or be awarded grants if they are in any of the situations
