The European Commission (EC) is accepting proposals for the 2022 Start-up Grant that contributes to setting up a legal and operational framework for the newly designated KIC.
Scope
- Following the EIT Call for Proposals 2021 for a new EIT Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) in the Cultural and Creative Sectors and Industries (CCSI) and in accordance with the conditions laid therein, on 22 June 2022 the Governing Board of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) designated a consortium ‘Innovation for Creative Economy (ICE)’, proposal number 101089436, as the new KIC called ‘EIT Culture & Creativity’ (‘EIT CC’ or ‘KIC’). Further to the EIT Single Programming Document 2022-2024, the EIT may award a start-up grant to EIT Culture & Creativity in order to support the efficient setting up of the new KIC.
- The designated consortium shall submit a proposal for their Start-up Plan and the estimated budget in accordance with the conditions laid down in the “Invitation for a 2022-2023 Start-up Plan proposal and estimated budgetin the area of Cultural and Creative Sectors and Industries (CCSI)”.
- The purpose of the start-up grant is to cover activities that are necessary to setting up a KIC, covering legal, operational, governance, strategic outlook, and other aspects.
- The Start-up Plan will be evaluated according to the criteria defined in the Invitation.
Objectives
- The designated KIC consortium shall achieve operational and legal readiness, set up strategies, rules and procedures for its long-term partnership growth, as well as develop KIC’s communication policy contributing to the EIT visibility.
Funding Information
The check will normally be done for the coordinator if the requested grant amount is equal to or greater than EUR 500 000, except for:
- public bodies (entities established as a public body under national law, including local, regional or national authorities) or international organisations; and
- cases where the individual requested grant amount is not more than EUR 60 000 (lowvalue grant).
Expected Outcome
A successful completion of the start-up phase and the endorsement of the main results of the start-up phase by the EIT Governing Board in Q4 of 2023 will serve as a pre-condition for the award of the 7-year Partnership Agreement between the KIC and EIT.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for funding, applicants must be established in one of the eligible countries, i.e.:
- the Member States of the European Union, including their outermost regions;
- the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) linked to the Member States;
- eligible non-EU countries:
- countries associated to Horizon Europe
- low- and middle-income countries
