European Fund for Youth Action on Pollinators – Individuals Grant

#largegrants

Deadline: 9-Sep-25

The European Fund for Youth Action on Pollinators has initiated a 30-month program co-funded by the European Commission and implemented through IUCN Save Our Species. This initiative aims to support the conservation of wild pollinators and to promote awareness and engagement around their role in ecosystems.

The Fund focuses on improving the conservation status of wild pollinators, increasing knowledge about their role in both natural and human-influenced environments, and encouraging public involvement through direct action and research in eligible EU countries.

Its primary objective is to engage young people in executing the revised EU Pollinators Initiative. The Fund supports actions that contribute to pollinator conservation, knowledge building, and mobilization of communities within the EU through targeted research or practical initiatives.

The total financial envelope available under this call is EUR 340,000. Individual grants can reach up to EUR 15,000, and the projects funded under this initiative must not exceed 15 months in duration.

Eligible costs are those listed in the project budget and must be essential to the project’s activities and deliverables. These costs must arise during the project’s official timeframe and be justifiable, reasonable, and compliant with financial and procurement standards set by IUCN. Compliance with applicable tax and social legislation is also required.

Certain costs are ineligible under this program. These include debts and interest charges, financial provisions for future liabilities, land or building purchases, sub-grants, reckless or excessive expenditures, currency exchange losses, bank transfer fees, refundable VAT, and expenses tied to suspended grants.

Eligible activities include research projects that enhance knowledge about pollinators, as well as actions that align with local, national, or regional conservation priorities. All proposed actions should clearly demonstrate their benefit to pollinator species, involve local stakeholders where possible, and comply with environmental and social standards.

Activities that are ineligible include those focused on managed pollinator populations, land and firearm purchases, actions that negatively impact cultural or community resources, projects lacking community support, and those involving captive breeding or alteration of culturally significant sites.

Applicants must be EU citizens between 18 and 35 years of age, residing in a country where the proposed activity will be implemented. They must be natural persons directly responsible for the project’s planning and execution—not acting on behalf of a third party. Applicants must also have a bank account in their name and demonstrate the skills necessary to carry out the proposed activities.

The evaluation process involves an initial check on eligibility, exclusion, and selection criteria, followed by a technical and budgetary review. Selected projects then proceed to contract negotiation and grant signing. Applicants with unsuccessful proposals will be notified accordingly.
