The United Nations Global Marketplace is accepting applications for its Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) to contribute to achieving the strategic objectives of the Sudan Country Programme Strategy through the implementation of Explosive Ordnance Risk Education interventions.
UNMAS is a component of the United Nations Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS) which was established on 4 June 2020 per Security Council resolution 2524. Mine action was explicitly invoked as an element to support the mission strategic objective: Assist peacebuilding, civilian protection and rule of law, in particular in Darfur and the states of South Kordofan and Blue Nile (the Two Areas). UNMAS also participates in the United Nations country team (UNCT) in Sudan, working in furtherance of the UNITAMS mandate.
Impact: The Sudanese population lives free of the threat of explosive ordnance. “SC resolution 2524 (2020) on UNITAMS”.
Outcome: People at risk recognize how to mitigate the threat of explosive ordnance.
Outcome Indicator(s): # and % of EORE beneficiaries that demonstrate an increase in knowledge between unsafe and safe practices.
Target Beneficiaries
The project beneficiaries will be the people of Sudan including men, women, boys, and girls within the local communities impacted by the landmine/ERW problem, in addition to the IDPs, Refugees, humanitarian actors, community leaders and returnees in landmine/ERW contaminated areas mainly in Darfur, Blue Nile and South Kordofan states. The participation of these groups in the project planning, coordination and implementation is significant.
Project Location(s)
UNMAS Sudan is calling for partners to operate in Darfur, Blue Nile and South Kordofan states as divided in accordance with the “Sectors”. Your proposal should include operations in at least one entire Sector – applications proposing implementation in only part of a given Sector will not be accepted. Organizations can apply for more than one Sector, but should submit separate proposals for each Sector applied for. Applicants should provide a strong justification to explain why they are best suited to work in the selected states.
- Upon the opening of the applications, UNOPS shall proceed to a Preliminary Examination of the applications to confirm that all documents and technical information requested in this CFP have been provided, and UNOPS will assess the completeness of each document submitted. UNOPS may, without further consultation with the applicant(s), reject any applications during the Preliminary Examination stage that do not comply with the formal eligibility requirements set out.
- Applications that are incomplete or contain material deviations from, or reservations to, the terms of the Grant Support Agreement and its General Conditions, may at the absolute discretion of UNOPS, be rejected or excluded from further consideration at any time during the evaluation, including after the Preliminary Examination.
