Applications are now open for Local Projects Grant Scheme which aims to contribute to the democratization of the field and to provide funds to NGOs, cultural producers and activists working in the field of culture and arts in promoting tolerance, pluralism, freedom of expression and democratic processes in the shrinking civic space of Turkey.
Local Projects Grant Scheme is designed to reach individuals and initiatives that have an impact on local communities and audiences, the Local Projects Grant Program aims to implement cultural projects that focus on social issues and encourage dialogue in a comprehensive and flexible structure.
Funding Information
- The Local Projects Grant Scheme grants up to 8,250 euros
- Duration: You have to complete your project within a maximum of 12 months.
Suitability of Activities
- All activities should be carried out non-profit in the field of culture and arts and related civil society activities. The aims and objectives of the project should be in line with the priority of the grant program applied for.
- Supporting rights-based activities; Priority will be given to activities that bring together actors from different ethnic, religious and linguistic backgrounds and focus on issues such as gender equality, LGBTI+ rights, social cohesion, human rights, freedom of expression and children’s rights.
- The activities eligible for grants for each grant scheme. The project may consist of different activities as long as they are interconnected and form a unity. For example, the beneficiary can attend an online conference and then organize a workshop to share the acquired knowledge with colleagues.

Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must meet the eligibility criteria
- The applicant must be resident in Turkey and carry out the project activities in Turkey.
- Project applications may include co-applicants and associates, if appropriate. A co-applicant is the applicant’s partner with whom he/she co-designs and executes his/her project. Associates are individuals and institutions that have duties in a certain part of the project.
- Co-applicants and associates may be individuals or organizations. The applicant should specify the co-applicants’ duties, responsibilities and budget allocation. The applicant should indicate the participants and their role in the project. Both the applicant and the co-applicant/participant must fill out the declaration on the portal.
- The eligibility criteria that the applicant must meet are not mandatory for co-applicants and associates.
- Provides information on the participation of the co-applicant(s) and associate(s) for each grant scheme. The applicant must provide the necessary proof of compliance with the eligibility criteria.
- The executives of the projects that are entitled to receive funding under CultureCIVIC can apply again after successfully completing their projects. An applicant cannot be a project manager or co-applicant in two projects at the same time. The project owner, who is actively carrying out a project, can only be a participant in another project within the same period. If you want to make a new application while you have a project you are running, you must first contact your project coordinator.
Local Projects
- It is open to NGOs, initiatives and individuals with or without official status.
- At least 2 years of activities of applicants in the fields of culture-arts/civil society should be documented through any supporting documents such as resumes, online and printed materials.
- Applicants should pursue a strategy focused on the grassroots movement.
- Co-applicants and participants can take part in the project.
