FRIDA is seeking proposals for its Scale-Up Grants to strengthen social enterprises that have developed successful technological solutions by allowing them to gain scale.
Within the context of this call for proposals, social enterprises include for- or not-for-profit organizations seeking to articulate market forces and strategies to find solutions to social problems.

In 2018, the FRIDA Program will offer a single scale-up consisting of US$20,000.
Category
Technology and Gender Scale-up Grant: The gender divide in technology remains a challenge in Latin America and the Caribbean. The FRIDA Program will offer one scale-up to a project that seeks to scale up innovative solutions focused on the promotion of gender equality and women’s leadership in technology and the Internet industry. Priority will be given to initiatives working on:
- The development of digital skills among women and girls (coding, network management and security, IPv6, Big Data, Robotics, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, and Cloud Computing, among others).
- Women’s participation in digital markets and their access to employment opportunities in technology.
- The implementation of strategies to defend digital rights and increase online security and the inclusion of women and girls.
- Women’s involvement in the deployment of Internet infrastructure to promote Internet access and adoption.
Projects must be led by a woman. Likewise, priority will be given to submissions by teams made up mostly of women. Selected projects must be executed within a period of twelve months.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications will be accepted from teams representing civil society organizati0ns, public and private universities, government agencies and private enterprises whose activities are in line with the program’s priorities.
- Individual applications will not be accepted.
- Applying organizations must be based in Latin America or the Caribbean.
