Applications are now open for the Fund for Innovation in Development (FID) is a new initiative to support innovation that contributes to reducing global poverty and inequality.

FID enables innovators and researchers to test new ideas, build rigorous evidence of what works, and scale the highest-impact and most cost-effective solutions.

FID makes funding decisions based on three core principles:
Types of Grants
The Fund will provide five types of grants:
Geographies: FID funds initiatives in all low- and middle-income countries, with special emphasis on the countries, primarily in sub-Saharan Africa, that are official priorities for French development assistance.
Eligible Countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Haiti, Liberia, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, and Togo.
