The Fondo Centroamericano de Mujeres (FCAM – Central American Women’s Fund), a feminist organization has launched a 23rd Call for Proposals to celebrate 15 years working for women’s rights in Central America.
Priority populations for FCAM are those that have largely been marginalized: young women, indigenous women, Afro-descendant women, women agricultural workers, migrant women, women free trade zone workers, women domestic laborers, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender, intersex, queer, women sex workers, and women with disabilities, among others.
Funding Information
- Funding Amount: Selected proposals can receive a maximum amount of U$10,000 for the entire period.
- Proposal Period: 17 months (June 1, 2019 – November 30, 2020).
Eligibility Criteria
Groups, collectives, organizations and networks comprised of and led by a) Young Women, b) Lesbian, Bisexual, Trans, Intersex and Queer Women, and c) Women with Disabilities, whose actions can focus one of the following areas:
- Physical and Mental Integrity: For a life free from all forms of violence, exploitation, harassment and discrimination, for sexual and reproductive rights, and the right to information.
- Economic Justice: For non-discrimination of women in access to property and dignified work conditions, against sexual harassment in the workplace and in general for respect for women’s labor rights and appropriate inclusion in the labor market (with regard to women with disabilities).
- Participation and Leadership: For women’s access to key information, knowledge and means by which to be heard, to develop their leadership, and to actively participate in the decisions that affect their personal lives and their communities.
- Environmental Justice: For women’s right to enjoy healthy, balanced and harmonious surroundings, from an environmental sustainability perspective. For their right to water, to food sovereignty and a clean, healthy and safe environment.
Requirements
- Young Women’s
- The group, collective, organization or network, must be led and comprised of – at least majority – of young women (under the age of 30).
- The proposal must seek to improve the lives of young women, and can also include girls and young women
- A focus on women’s human rights is indispensable.
- It should be linked to social movements and local actors.
- It should be a collective action.
- Priority will be placed on:
- Emerging groups, networks, collectives or organizations with little or no access to other donors.
- Proposals that use innovative and creative work strategies.
- Are located in areas removed from capital cities.
- Integrate, include and/or work with marginalized populations of young people: indigenous or Afro-Caribbean, with disabilities, lesbians, bisexuals, trans, sex workers, women living with HIV/AIDS, domestic and free trade zone workers, among others.
- LBTIQ Women’s
- The group, collective, organization or network, must be led and comprised of lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex and/or queer women.
- The proposal must seek to improve the lives of LBTIQ women.
- A focus on women’s human rights is indispensable.
- It should be linked to social movements and local actors.
- It should be a collective action.
- Priority will be placed on:
- Emerging groups, networks, collectives or organizations with little or no access to other donors.
- Proposals that use innovative and creative work strategies.
- Are located in areas removed from capital cities.
- Integrate, include and/or work with marginalized populations of young people: indigenous or Afro-Caribbean, with disabilities, lesbians, bisexuals, trans, sex workers, women living with HIV/AIDS, domestic and free trade zone workers, among others
- Women with Disabilities
- Groups and organizations comprised of people with disabilities, with a special emphasis on those led by women
- Proposals should consider at least one of the following areas:
- Organizational Strengthening: so that groups and organizations of women with disabilities have the conditions, knowledge and skills that allow them to develop their strategies
- Training and Awareness Raising Processes: directed towards organizations of people with disabilities, duty bearers and civil organizations, to create awareness about the inequalities faced by women with disabilities.
- Advocacy: To support the efforts of women with disabilities to demand their human rights are fulfilled and their agendas are included in relevant processes; and to support the creation of connections and contacts with diverse actors and movements.
- Proposals must seek to improve the lives of women with disabilities, and can also include girls and young women
