The Global Development Network (GDN) is seeking expressions of interest for its Mobilizing Local Knowledge to Improve Competitiveness Strategies program with an aim to produce high-quality research on industrial policies
The program aims to mobilize developing country researchers to produce contextualized, evidence-based research on the subject of industrial policies, to contribute to an understanding of how governments and companies in developing countries interact to improve industrial productivity, and how these impacts can be measured. Through rigorous documentation of existing policies, the program aims to generate locally produced, quality, empirical academic knowledge to inform debate on competitiveness strategies and to promote industrial productivity in African countries.
Grant Information
- The research grants will be provided to 3 selected teams, for grants of up to USD 41,500 per study.
- The research project will be conducted over a 18 month period, from May 2017 – October 2018.
Eligibility Criteria
- The call is open to teams of researchers belonging to a university or any other research oriented organizations based in Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria and Tanzania fulfilling the following eligibility criteria. A maximum of 4 researchers is allowed for reach item, including the principal investigator. Researchers can belong to different institutions in the same country but the grant will be given to the institutions hosting the principal investigator.
- The researcher including the principal investigator must be citizens of a developing country.
- The principal investigator must be a permanent resident of the country he/she is studying (below mentioned countries).
- Staff members of multilateral and bilateral development organizations are not eligible to apply.
- Previous and current employees of GDN are not eligible to apply up till 5 year from the completion of their tenure. Previous and current GDN Board Members and members of evaluation teams are NOT eligible to apply
- Similar proposals or papers resulting as products from full or partial GDN funded activities cannot be submitted for this competition.
