The Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme (GEF SGP), implemented by the United Nations Development Programme is accepting proposals to support environmental projects for capacity development.

These projects must be carried out within the environmental objectives that simultaneously support the goals of local empowerment and poverty reduction.

Small Grants Programme – Global Environment Facility gives priority to the poor and vulnerable communities, as well as groups such as women, youth and indigenous populations. As such, the program proactively seeks to increase the capacity of these communities and groups and civil society organizations that work with them to develop proposals, as well as to implement the projects successfully and in a sustainable manner.

The goal of grants for capacity development is to “promote and strengthen local communities and civil society capacity to address global environmental challenges.” These grants should strengthen capacities for:
