Deadline: 14-Oct-22
The NWT Recreation and Parks Association (NWTRPA) is inviting applications for its Get Active Grant Program to promote recreation by supporting leaders, communities, and partners through training, advocacy, and networking.
Get Active grants fund community events that get people physically active in the NWT. It’s one of the ways the association helps people to keep moving during the winter months. Whether you’ve already got an event planned, or just have an idea for one, you can apply for the funding to make that event happen.
Get Active helps fund community events that get people physically active in the NWT. Community organizations are encouraged to apply for one of three grants. Organizations can receive $400 to $1,000 to organize and deliver community and/or elder-oriented physical activity events or to purchase equipment for their community.
Types of Grant
Grants will be awarded in three categories:
- Three community-oriented physical activity events – $750
- Example: Dene games, Nordic walking, sliding, snowshoeing, a cross-country ski loppet, community Olympics, or winter golf
- Three Elder-oriented physical activity events – $1,000

- Equipment Grant – $400
- Equipment can be purchased for any community event, and equipment needs to be purchased and used before March 15, 2023.

All approved organizations will receive a small Get Active prize pack to use at their events. Prize items may be used for participant giveaways, volunteer gifts or as draw prizes.
