The Global Fund to End Modern Slavery (GFEMS) is pleased to announce approximately USD 700K in new funding available through a grant agreement with the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad). In this funding opportunity, GFEMS seeks implementing partner(s) to support its work to improve practices in the Indian construction industry.
Funding Opportunity
GFEMS has identified two opportunities to meet its goal of improving practices in the Indian construction industry.
- Opportunity 1: Support the creation of a network of ethical micro-contractors: propose and test incentives for micro-contractors to utilize ethical principles and sustainably reduce the exploitation of vulnerable migrant workers. [Approx. USD 600K]
- Opportunity 2: Secure concrete partnerships with leading companies in the construction sector and the government: build demand for ethical recruitment at all stages of the supply chain and ensure the sustainability of Neev’s objectives. [Approx. USD 100K]
Funding Information
- Award Minimum: USD 75,000
- Award Maximum: USD 600,000
- Tentative Period of Performance: 18 Months
Eligibility Criteria
An applicant must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for GFEMS funding:
- Registered non-profit organizations, multilateral organizations, academic institutions, and for-profit organizations with the caveat that for-profit organizations are not permitted to generate profit from grant-funded activities.
- Organizations that are able to demonstrate compliance with Norad rules and regulations, including the Norad Procurement Provisions, and any audit requirements found in relevant regulation (e.g., prior experience managing official development assistance funding from a government or multilateral organization, a minimum of 2 years of audited financials, etc.).
- Organizations with existing registration demonstrating legal authority to operate in India.
- Organizations that can legally receive funding that originates with the Norwegian Government without excessive tax or the use of an intermediary organization.
- Proposals that align with the Fund’s Theory of Change, including its focus on prevalence measurement and reduction.
