The Gianforte Family Foundation Grant Program is now open to support organizations that equip people to improve their lives in a sustainable way.
Vision: To see individuals and families in Montana flourish, spiritually and economically.
The Gianforte Family Foundation was established in 2004. Since its creation the foundation has become one of the top giving foundations in Montana, giving nearly $88 million to initiatives that align with their mission, vision, and focus.
Focus Areas
- Christian organizations engaged in outreach work, strengthening families, and helping the needy.
- Organizations in Montana that work to improve education, support entrepreneurship, and create jobs.
- Organizations that enhance the local community of Bozeman, Montana.
Values
- They appreciate the work being done by non-profits and thoughtfully consider and respond to each grant request.
- They seek accountability in the grantees and expect the same of their selves.
- They prioritize strong leadership in the grantees, both at the board and operating level, and they seek to develop long-term relationships with these leaders.
- They value honesty and openness between them and the grantees, even if the results are not as expected. They expect the grantees to keep them updated throughout the project, especially in cases of unanticipated events.
- They prefer solutions that are either proactive, preventative, or reach the root of the problem.
- They provide connections inside the network to help applicants be more effective through additional funding sources or collaboration with other non-profits.
Geographic Focus
The majority of the gifts are for work being done in Montana. If your project does not have direct benefit to Montanans, the foundation may not be the best fit.
Eligibility Criteria
The Gianforte Family Foundation partners with organizations that equip people to improve their lives in a sustainable way. Take their Partnership Self-Assessment to help determine if your organization fits the criteria.
- You are a non-profit with a 501 c3 tax filing status.
- Your non-profit organization fits within one or more of the focus areas:
- Jobs, Education, and Entrepreneurship
- Families and the Vulnerable
- Christian Outreach and Discipleship
- Bozeman Arts and Culture
- Your non-profit work is being done in Montana or your project directly impacts Montanans.
- If your organization meets all of these criteria and is not currently a partner (i.e.: has never received a grant from the foundation) – please schedule a consultation. The staff wants to speak with you, hear about your organization, and help you determine if partnership is the next step.
