Applicants are invited to apply for the “Partnerships for Her Voice, Her Choice” program, announced by Minister Bibeau in support of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) as a means of advancing gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls in line with the Feminist International Assistance Policy.
The call focuses on comprehensive sexual education; reproductive health services and investments in family planning and contraceptives; the prevention of and response to sexual and gender-based violence, including child, early and forced marriage, and female genital mutilation and cutting; and initiatives that support the right to choose safe and legal abortion, as well as access to post-abortion care, including in fragile and conflict-affected settings.
Objective
Under this call, project proposal must contribute to improved comprehensive sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), with a focus on women and adolescent girls. Applicants must include advocacy activities as either cross-cutting initiatives within a broader SRHR project, or through advocacy-specific outcomes. Project proposal must contribute to at least two of the following intermediate outcomes:
- Increased utilization of gender-responsive and adolescent-friendly comprehensive sexuality education and sexual and reproductive health services;
- Improved provision of gender-responsive and adolescent-friendly comprehensive sexuality education and sexual and reproductive health services;
- Reduced sexual and gender-based violence including child, early and forced marriage and female genital mutilation and cutting;
- Increased government and civil society responsiveness to the SRHR of women and adolescent girls.
Funding Information
The total amount of funding available under the Partnerships for Her Voice, Her Choice (Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights) call for preliminary proposals is $40 million from fiscal years 2018/19 to 2023/24.
Eligibility Criteria
- Organization is legally incorporated in Canada and they can provide proof of legal status.
- Organization are submitting only one application under this call as the lead implementing organization (i.e., as sole signatory with Global Affairs Canada). Organization may also participate in other applications as a non-signatory partner on another lead applicant’s proposal.
- If organization submits more than one application under this call as lead applicant, program will only consider the one with the earliest submission time stamp.
- Organization can demonstrate relevant experience in Official Development Assistance (ODA) – eligible countries by providing examples of two projects of the preliminary proposal. Both project examples must also demonstrate experience in sexual and reproductive health and rights, or other health-related programming.
