The Kyiv School of Economics (KSE) announces the acceptance of applications for participation in the grant competition within the framework of the UNDP project “Strengthening recovery in Ukraine based on actual data”, a component of which is implemented by the Kyiv School of Economics.
The goal of the project: to assess the damage caused by the aggression of the Russian Federation, to expand the coverage of damage assessment in regions and settlements affected by Russian aggression, to collect and summarize current data on damage and damage assessment, to strengthen the existence of an evidence base for accelerating recovery processes in Ukraine, to activate participation of civil society institutions in the process of reconstruction of Ukraine.
Grants are provided for the purpose of:
- Collection, analysis, recording and/or systematization of data and information regarding damage caused by the aggression of the Russian Federation. For example: collecting data on damaged or destroyed buildings, recording and/or confirming an assessment of the degree of damage caused to the object (such as completely destroyed, severely damaged, moderately damaged, potentially damaged, undamaged), collecting and confirming data on the types and characteristics of damaged buildings (area, height, etc.), collection and systematization of other parameters of damaged objects, preparation of systematized and visual materials regarding the caused damage and destruction, etc.;
- Assessments of damage caused in regions and settlements affected by Russian aggression. For example: monitoring and collection of public messages from citizens to record and assess damages, systematization of authorities’ data on losses and damages, assessment of damages in accordance with the requirements of CMU Resolution No. 326 and taking into account the experience of the World Bank, preparation of an evidence base for future compensation , etc.
Funding Information
- Grant size: within the framework of the competition, it is planned to provide 4 grants of up to $10,000 (or equivalent in UAH) each. Applicants must submit a project proposal budget in USD.
- Grant implementation period: July 1 – October 15, 2023. The recommended implementation period is no more than 3 months. Regardless of the start date, the proposed program activity must be completed by October 15,
Types of Activities
- Types of activities that can be financially supported within the scope of the grant:
- Analytical services for recognition, structuring and analysis of data on damage caused by the aggression of the Russian Federation;
- Work on the preparation of analytical reports, statistical and/or visual materials on the representation of damage data;
- Consultancy services regarding assessment of damages in regions and settlements affected by Russian aggression;
- Analytical work on monitoring data on damages published by state authorities, other organizations and institutions of civil society, etc.;
- Other types of activities corresponding to the purpose and goals of the project.
Geography of grant implementation: Project activities will be implemented in communities under the control of the Government of Ukraine and where the security situation allows, in the following regions: Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv.
Eligibility Criteria
- A non-governmental (public, charitable) organization officially registered in Ukraine, which has a non-profit status obtained in accordance with the procedure established by law (codes 0032, 0034, 0036, 0038, 0039, 0048) with a current account in the Bank of Ukraine;
- Duly completed grant proposal in accordance with the application and budget forms, submitted by the deadline and in the manner specified in this announcement (compliance with the qualification criteria), submission of copies of founding/financial documents in accordance with the conditions listed in this announcement;
- A team of at least 3 members (head of the organization, accountant/financial specialist, project manager/expert), as well as other specialists in accordance with the requirements and needs of the grant project;
- Availability of internal control for managing grant funds;
- Experience in the relevant field, the ability to implement the project within the specified time and geographical boundaries in the current conditions.
