The Pride Foundation Australia (PFA) Board of Directors and the Sidney Myer Fund are pleased to announce the next joint grant program which focus on supporting LGBTQIA+ refugees and people seeking asylum.
The Foundation encourages projects that are collaborations between refugee and asylum seeker agencies or groups and LGBTQIA+ agencies or groups. Where an LGBTIQ+ refugee-led group is partnering with another organisation they encourage equal partnerships and co-design.
Focus Areas
One of the organisations/groups must have DGR status. Projects should aim to assist LGBTQIA+ people who are refugees or seeking asylum in any of the following areas:
- Improving access to stable housing;
- Enhancing education and/or workforce participation;
- Enhancing support for community connection and improving settlement outcomes;
- Improving health and/or health literacy;
- Supporting links to LGBTIQ services and supports;
- Enhancing cultural engagement and development;
- Improving LGBTQIA+ inclusive practice in services.
Funding Information
- Grant range up to $20,000.
Types of Projects
Projects may have a duration of up to two years and include any of the following:
- Community development, or
- Education initiatives, or
- Applied, community-led research with tangible outcomes in the field, or
- Events including arts and cultural or conferences.
- The following activities will not be funded:
- Capital and building works, vehicles, furniture, or equipment;
- General fund-raising;
- Travel, books, religious activities.
Application
Applications must address:
- The purpose and activities of the proposed peer-support group;
- The personnel involved – leadership and expected numbers attending;
- The lead organisation name, ABN and confirmed DGR status, contact person;
- Timelines;
- The budget, including any in-kind support.
Applicants must submit an expression of interest by email to PFA using the appropriate form by 5 pm Sunday 31st January 2021.
