Nordic Forest Research (SNS) hereby announces a NordForNet funding call running from 2022-2026. Nordic Forest research Network (NordForNet) is replacing the former CAR (Centres of Advanced Research).
SNS wishes to support networks within important areas related to sustainable management of forest resources, as well as networks exploring ways to balance different/conflicting goals related to forests in order to meet the demands and expectations of the society. This includes the balance between forest production and forest protection.
Aims
The aim of the SNS NordForNet call is to:
- Provide means for long-term networking and coordination
- Interlink projects initiated in the Nordic region
- Increase synergies in forest research in the Nordic countries
- Promote cross sectoral collaboration of sectors within a sustainable bioeconomy
- Bridge gaps between research and forestry in practice
Funding Information
Successful applicants may receive funds from SNS of approximately 300-600.000 SEK/year for five years, covering a maximum of 10 % of the total budget.
Call Conditions
- Researchers at research institutions in the Nordic region are eligible to apply
- Participants in the network must include researchers from at least three countries in the Nordic region
- A NordForNet is headed by a coordinator and a steering group with representatives from the participating countries. The coordinator of a NordForNet project is responsible for administration and finance
- Every organisation in the network must indicate two contact persons for the network – one main responsible and one assisting. Even gender distribution is sought
- A NordForNet is furthermore open to participants fromthe Baltic countries and others. The main applicant, though, shall be based at an institution in a Nordic country
- Networksmust have co-financing for a least 90 % of the total budget, with SNS funding coveringat most 10 %.
- The participants in the networkmust have a 40-60% gender balance and a plan for, how to ensure effective gender equality
- PhD students and young researchers (in the first 10 years of research activities) must participate in the network, and the network should have a plan for, how to include and integrate young researchers/PhD students
- NordForNet works, if necessary, as an expert body for NMR, ÄK-FJLS and SNS.This involves that networks must, at short notice, support SNS secretariat answering specific questions
- Cost-efficiency: They encourage applicants to ensure that the cost-per-person is reasonable. In addition to physical meetings they encourage applicants to make use of video-conferences and web-based meetings to reduce travel costs.
Eligibility Criteria
Participants in submitted network applications shouldinclude researchers from at least three countries in theNordic region.
