The Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB), U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL, or the Department), is pleased to announce the availability of approximately $10 million total costs for one cooperative agreement to fund one technical assistance project in Mexico with the overarching objective to improve compliance with labor laws in Mexico.
The project will strengthen labor administration systems for enforcement and inspection, and improve engagement with supply chain actors within the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) priority sectors to reduce noncompliance with Mexican labor laws in Nuevo Leon, Sonora and Baja California, with a focus on bringing labor practices in line with Mexico’s 2017 constitutional reform on labor justice and 2019 labor law reform.
The project-level outcomes are:
- Improved enforcement of labor laws by labor inspectors in the target states in USMCA priority sectors.
- Improved administration of labor inspections in the USMCA priority sectors.
- Improved labor inspector engagement with supply chain actors regarding labor legal requirements in target states and USMCA priority sectors.
Funding Information
- Funding will be provided in the form of a cooperative agreement. Approximately $10 million total costs is expected to be available to fund one award. Applicants may apply for a ceiling amount of up to $10 million total costs.
- The period of performance is a maximum of 4.5 years (54 months) from the effective date of the award. This performance period includes all necessary implementation and start-up activities.
