The Arts Access Victoria has announced the applications for Victorian Deaf and Disabled Artists in Australia to change for future funding programs.
With the support from Creative Victoria, they are creating a new grants program for Deaf and Disabled Artists, Creatives and Arts Workers in Victoria.
Funding Streams
There are two funding streams in Accelerate:
- Nurture are grants of $5,000 (plus $2,500 access costs) for artists
- Create are grants of $15,000 (plus $5,000 access costs) for artists
What the funding can be used for?
- Artist fees – this should include paying yourself so you can sustain yourself and employing others.
- Project costs (for an exhibition, performance, screen-based work, recording, residency or any presentation of an artwork)
- Purchasing equipment for you or your practice
- Purchasing software
- Attending training or professional development opportunities and paying yourself to attend
- Paying a mentor or other creative or artistic collaborator
- Materials for your work
- Paying studio rent or rehearsal room hire
- Sustaining yourself – they are imagining that you are more likely to make art if your living costs are taken care of – paying rent, buying food, paying bills
Eligibility Criteria
Accelerate is open to:
- Victorian-based Deaf and Disabled artists
- 18 years and older
- Individual artists or disability-led collectives (Create only)
- Artists working in any artform
- Artists who are not core employees of Arts Access Victoria or Creative Victoria
